Osterman, Randy Lea

1948 - 2021

Randy Lea Osterman, 73, of Rocky Mountain House, passed away on Sunday October 24th, 2021. He was born February 11, 1948 in Edmonton, Alberta to parents Martha and Clifford Osterman. He was raised and lived on the family farm in Eaglesham, Alberta and then in his younger teen years moved with his family to Grande Prairie, Alberta. He completed his grade 12 education there, graduating with honors and a degree as a draftsperson. He was employed for a time with CN but then moved on to become an RCMP member. After leaving the RCMP he followed his passion for ranching and cowboying. Randy was an avid horseman and possessed a very strong rodeo athletic ability. Throughout his life Randy was also employed in various truck driving jobs, something he also enjoyed. It was during one of these times that he met and eventually married his loving wife Janet (Goddard) Osterman. Randy enjoyed the outdoors and developed a fondness for golfing and his later retired years he occasionally marshalled the golf course at Pine Hills near Rocky.

Randy is survived by his loving wife Janet, son Clayton (Tammy), son Jared (Irma). He also leaves to mourn his grandchildren who fondly referred to him as “Gramps”; Shylo, Sheridan, Shaylynn, BJ, Emma, Tori and Walker. The oldest of five siblings, he is survived by: sisters Sandra (Alvin), brother Rod (Karen), sister Cheryl (John), sister-in-law Debbie (Don), brother-in-law Glenn (Lorna); one aunt Siegred (Osterman) Grieves and remembered dearly by his nephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by his parents Martha and Clifford Osterman, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Barbara and Ely Goddard, brother Keith and sister-in-law Gloria Osterman.

As requested by Randy no funeral services will be held.
