Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Father and Grandfather
Glen Vernon Long.
Glen was born on Aug 27, 1950, and passed May 14, 2025.
Glen was born in Buster Creek where he was raised and then moved to the Garth area. Later to Rocky Mountain House and finally to Withrow. He spent his years working hard in the oilfield throughout Alberta, working on the rigs, scouting, gravel truck and picker and crane trucks. Glen's passion for cooking inspired him to buy a restaurant in rocky, 300 Spartans and after he went back trucking and part owner with his brother Don. They had Long's trucking and picker service. Later he worked for Lonkar out of Red Deer.
Glen will be remembered for his passion of camping, exploring the west country and anywhere else he adventured. His love for camping, fishing, hunting, boating and
quadding especially with friends and family. He loved showing and teaching his grandkids his passions and taking them on outings and adventures. His stories and jokes around the campfire will be missed. He loved cooking for everyone and always lending a hand.
Glen and his late wife Lorna enjoyed the winters in Congress, Arizona. He kept busy with the church and enjoyed helping with charity BBQs. He loved exploring the desert. Meeting new people and amazing friends there.
Glen is survived by children Glenda (Dean), Adam (Nova) and Kyla (Kim)
His 6 grandchildren Brittany, Jayce, Christopher, Makayla, Sara and Jessica. His sister June Anger and brother Norman Long
Glen was predeceased by his wife Lorna Long, brothers Howard and Don Long and his sister Mae Roselle.
The family would like to thank Dr. Tatukandirwa and the Red Deer Cancer Clinic, Dr. Christiansen and Innisfail Rosefield center. Nurse Taj and staff for their great care and compassion.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date to remember Glen who will be truly and sadly missed.
Memorial donations can be made in Glen’s name to Rocky Fish and Game Association.
