Obituary

Wanda Arlene Peterson passed away on May 22, 2024, at the Foothills Medical Centre. She was born on August 19, 1954, in Edmonton, AB to Walter and Vivian Bunch.

She was number six in a family of 10 children. She lived in many places during her life, until she settled in Alhambra in 1988 with her second husband, Skip Peterson. Wanda was the most caring and selfless person. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Wanda worked her entire life as a homecare worker and was beloved by every person she cared for. She loved gardening, reading, canning, and baking. Her maple sticks were craved by all! She enjoyed campouts at Brent and Brenda’s, and all the great food and conversations that came with them. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren! She was the most amazing Grandma! Sleepovers at Grandma’s house were filled with fun, lots of laughs, and all the junk food you could eat! As her grandchildren grew older, she was a wealth of knowledge and support for any situation.

Wanda is survived by her loving daughters, Shona (Kevin) Sawyer, Shannon Gray, and Katrina (Brad) Buchta; her grandchildren Logan, McKenzie, Kaley, Emma, and Ethan. She is also survived by her siblings Joyce Mah, Vern (Elva) Bunch, Janice (Gary) Dietrich, Judy (Ron) Marcinek, Gerry (Laurie) Bunch, Sandra Prosser, Dwayne (Shelagh) Bunch, and Don (Arlene) Bunch, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Vivan Bunch, her husband, Skip Peterson, her sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Tony Schafer, and brother-in-law Gary Mah.

Condolences

Joanne Long:

To the Families & Friends of Wanda:
I am terribly saddened & sorry to learn of your loss & you are in my thoughts & prayers.
I met Wanda through a mutual friend, Gloria Fiset, a number of years ago now but hadn't seen her since July 2019 when we last met her in Rocky again.
I share in your grief & will also miss her, just as others will in all the years that follow.
To the many others who will all miss her & are extending their condolences, please take a moment to reflect on a memory of her that puts a smile on your face &/or laughter in your heart & carry all that forward with you, just as I am planning to do.
"May you RIP Dear Wanda Peterson"!!

Tammy Fiset Angell:

My heart breaks for your loss Shona, Shannon, Katrina and families. Our families (Cliff, Gloria & Rachelle) were neighbors for years and friends for many more. I pray peace & comfort for your families as you grieve her loss. Hugs.

Passing on condolences and hugs from Cousin Anna and David. Also condolences from Cousin Lynette and Doug, who lit a candle for Wanda at the Canterbury Cathedral. They all sent lots of love.

Sheralyn Donaghy (McKeage):

I am deeply shocked and extremely sorry for your loss. Although I never really saw her as a adult, I have great memories of my childhood with all of you. Wanda was 3 days younger than me, and so much fun to be with.
As I see her now, she has the same caring, & loving look. Your sister's spirit will live on through the love she shared with others. May her memory bring you peace at this difficullt time.
