Thursday, July 28, 2022 Boyd’s journey came to a peaceful end.
Boyd was proud of his heritage of growing up in Rossland, BC. This love of mountains and mountain adventures never wavered. Hiking, canoeing, skiing, motor biking, pedal biking and road trips were his ways. Backroads and the off beaten path were favourites.

When Boyd moved to Alberta he did many things before settling into working at the Ram River gas plant. His moustache was a trademark and made him easy to remember. Boyd always said he was grateful for his career working there. He enjoyed the challenges but most of all he appreciated the people and when he could, giving a “hand across” to the new guys as they learned new practices, techniques, and trouble shooting.

Boyd celebrated his 45th wedding anniversary with Theresa, Sat July 23. Boyd was a very engaged parent, as they raised five children: Tyler (Tracy), Michael (Melissa), Joshua (Shea), Leah (Ryan), and Jill. The nine grandchildren we now have enriched Boyd’s life as much as he enriched each of theirs.

Boyd loved the extended family gatherings and celebrations. For such events, Boyd would brew many types of beer, share his culinary skills, and constantly and consistently gave a “hand across” so the event ran smoothly.

Boyd expressed his love of life through photography, pottery, woodworking, carpentry, brewing, dancing, cooking and gardening. Travelling with friends to Maui, and family to Italy, and Africa enriched his life. A trip to the coast just in June with the couple who shared so many of our life adventures over the last 48 years, cycling, hiking, and comradeship is treasured.

We are so grateful that Boyd, earlier this month, was out camping at Gull Lake for our annual family reunion. A camping trip with all your kids, grandkids, … sand, bikes, water, campfires,…..a pretty special last adventure!

Complications from a loop ileostomy reversal June 28, 2022 proved to be insurmountable. Boyd always showed his love for his family through the power of his working hands. His last week, all of his children showed their love for him through the power of their own working hands providing 24 hour care, comfort and support. What a beautiful blessing. We are heartbroken to say farewell.

A Mass of the Christian Burial celebrating Boyd’s life will be held at the St. Matthew Catholic Church, on Saturday, August 6 at 11:00 am. Following, we hope you join us for lunch and fellowship.

In lieu of memorial contributions or flowers, please take that someone(s) special, share an adventure, build a memory.
