It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ruby Watmough, a beloved mother, nana, sister, auntie and companion, on February 22, 2025. Ruby was born on October 12, 1959, in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, to Donald and Rosanna Pengelly.
Throughout life, Ruby touched the hearts of many with her kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit. Ruby was known for her infectious laugh, amazing sense of humor (even when not always appropriate), her resilience through the face of adversity, and her continuous support that she provided her loved ones or anyone that needed a helping hand. Ruby’s dedication to her children, grandchildren, siblings and extended family as well as her unique ability to create a safe space for young people to talk with in their time of need will always be remembered.
Ruby is survived by her son Steve (son-in-law Petar); daughter Kelsie; and grandchildren Ayrionna and Rozlynn; stepdaughter Lee-Ann; and stepson Mike; brothers Lee (sister-in-law Shelagh) and Todd; sisters Ann (brother-in-law Bruce), Gail (brother-in-law Dell) and Della (brother-in-law Roger);her companion Lorne; numerous nieces and nephews and countless others that Ruby loved, all of whom will cherish the memories they made together and carry Ruby’s legacy forward. Ruby was predeceased by her father Donald Pengelly; mother Rose Pengelly; beloved nephew Ryker Dingman; honorary sister Pearl Morrison; and brother-in-law Robert Morrison; grandfather Mathias Gagnon; and uncles Lawrence, Clarence, John and Bobby.
A celebration of life to honor Ruby's life will be held on March 21, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Caroline Hub (5103 48 Ave Caroline, Alberta). Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate the wonderful life Ruby lived. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Rest in peace, Mom. Your memory will forever be treasured in our hearts.
