The family will have a private ceremony where Olive’s ashes will be spread along with Nicks as per their wishes.
Olive Oshust passed away on Nov. 18, 2024, peacefully at Villa Marie supportive living facility in Red Deer, Alberta. She was born on July 1st, 1936, at Ponoka, Alberta to James and Dorthey Liddell. Olive was one of five children. She went to grade school in Ponoka, and she went on to earn her Nursing aide certificate with her best friend Elsie in Calgary. In 1958 she met and married her lifelong partner, Nick. They first travelled Alberta while Nick was working on drilling rigs and Olive took on nursing assignments when she could. They started their family on the road while in Swan Hills and Barrhead then settled down for the first time in Olds, AB. in 1963. In 1969 they moved to the farm at Oras across the road from Nick’s father’s property, where they raised their three children. She split her time between working part-time at the Rocky Hospital, helping on the farm and raising the children. In retirement she continued to farm in the summers while traveling throughout the winters. Her passions included knitting, travelling, camping, and golfing as well as spending time with family. After living on the farm Olive and Nick moved into Rocky in 2011. Following Nicks passing in 2022 Olive moved to supportive living firstly in Rocky and then in Red Deer. Olive was predeceased by husband Nick, brother Jim, sisters Judy, and Lois., and son Todd. She is survived by her children Lee, Brian (Carol) and Keitha Issler (Tim). Grandchildren Justine, Megan, Connor, Nathan, Shane and Coral and great grandchild Romee as well as by Olive’s sister Dorthy Kraft. The family will have a private ceremony where Olive’s ashes will be spread along with Nicks as per their wishes.

Joanne Long:
Although I do not know any of Olive's family members, I did work with Olive in early 1965 in the Olds, Alberta Hospital until we later moved to Airdrie. I greatly enjoyed the times I worked with her & even after many years now, at first glance of the photo here, I knew that I remembered her!! She was a very kind & considerate lady to the patients as well as her co-workers!! Having married an oil rig worker, we made another move again that same year to Rocky for a short time before another move took place. Unfortunately, our paths never crossed again after our return to & during the years we spent in Rocky .
I send my sincere condolences to her Family as well as all those who will mourn her passing. May all your many precious & cherished memories of her be of comfort to you as you mourn her loss.

Lee, Brian, Keitha and all of your families, I send you all my deepest condolences on hearing of your Mom's passing recently. I remember your Mom as a very kind and compassionate lady to all of her kids friends, either when visiting at the farm east of town or when they moved to town later in life. Myself, I will miss my many talks I had together with Olive and Nick at the Rocky Legion or the grocery store. To you all, keep all of your fond memories you have of your Mom close to your heart, and cherish them moving forward. She will be missed by many who knew her. God Bless.
