Obituary

Lily Croy Mehrer, 92 years of age, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Born in Rocky Mountain House, she was the eldest daughter of William and Alvina Long’s 9 children of which 5 preceded her in death.
Lily married the late Dave Croy in 1951, and they had 8 children (Marlene, Marvin, Raymond, Day, Leslie, Leola, Bernie and Debbie). The family moved to High Level, Alberta and homesteaded in 1961. Tragedy took her husband Dave in 1968 and her eldest son Marvin in 1985.
Lily married the Late Jake Mehrer in 1983, and she became a step-mom to Byron and Corrine. Jake and Lily moved to a farm in High Level after living in Saskatchewan and Rocky Mountain House. Jake passed away in 2005. Lily moved back to the homestead until her health started to fail.
Lily professed her life to Christ at an early age. She loved to sing, read the bible, pray for and with others and praising the Lord. She loved to garden and raise animals. But her favorite thing was to spend time with her family, laughing and always wearing a smile. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother and friend, always thinking of others. “To know her was to love her”.
Lily leaves to cherish her loving memory, her 7 children, 1 stepson, 32 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, and 17 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Condolences

Colleen Benedictson (nee Roselle):

Sharing sincere condolences to the entire family of Lily, in her recent passing. A warm-hearted, dedicated and persevering lady. With Lily being a cousin to my mom, Mae (nee Long), along with their respective sisters and brothers of each Long family, many memories were made over the years, starting at Buster Creek where both families homesteaded and grew up. Thank you Debbie and Leola for stopping in at Rocky with your mom a few years back, which made for a pleasant afternoon visit for 3 of the girl cousins. May you find comfort in the coming days and beyond, of many endearing memories of your loved one, and in knowing she is at peace, until you meet again.

Kathleen Sissau [Long]:

Lily was my oldest sister
When we were growing up she would comb my hair sometimes when she could find me. I am sending my condolences to all of Lilly's family.
Lilly will be missed by us all.
Rest in peace dear Lilly.
Kathleen Sissau

Joanne Long:

My husband, Norman Long is also a cousin of Lily's & we were very saddened to learn of her recent passing.
Although it's now been quite some time since we've been able to see her, we always very much enjoyed the past times we had spent visiting with her when it was possible.
Our sincerest thoughts & condolences are now with all her family members who are greatly mourning her loss. We express our heartfelt sorrows to all of you & may they be of comfort to you during this very difficult time.
May she now RIP with all those who had predeceased her while those of us who loved her will continue to miss her & mourn her loss.

Norman & Joanne Long

Dona (Long) Winchester:

Lilly was my father’s cousin and over the years I was blessed to meet her. While we didn’t see each other often, I remember her as a sweet, caring and very loving person. I often contacted Lilly to get the Long’s history info and she was a great source of knowledge. RIP Dear Lilly
