Myrna Rae Denham

1941 - 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Myrna Rae Denham announce her sudden passing on April 26, 2021.

Myrna was born in Pincher Creek, Alberta on March 20, 1941 to Harold and Lucille Brown. She was welcomed by her big sister and best friend Marla Jean, Myrna grew up in Southern Alberta, attending school in Glenwood and Lethbridge. The family moved to the Caroline area where she attended the North Caroline School and the Sundre school. It was in Sundre that she met her soulmate, lifelong partner and spouse, Emil Denham. They were blessed with four children. Through their marriage, Myrna and Emil lived in Calgary, Winfield, Rimbey and finally settled in Caroline in 1969. Myrna spent many years and lots of energy volunteering in the community. She organized Grad banquets, held positions in the Home and School and worked tirelessly in the arena kitchen. She was a Cub leader and an avid hockey fan. She enjoyed working and throughout her time in Caroline she held positions at the Pioneer, GTI and the GTI Liquor Store. When she and Emil bought into the Caroline Hotel, she operated the Caroline Motel for 10 years. She continued to work, bookkeeping for the Hotel until she was 75 years old, when arthritis and a knee replacement forced her to retire. Her hobbies included bowling, crocheting and reading. For the last couple of years Myrna was immobile due to 2 hip fractures occurring in a span of one month. She greatly missed going into town and visiting members of the community.

Myrna was predeceased by her son-in-law Lorne Speight in 1983, her father Harold Brown in 1986, her sister Marla in 2000 and her mother Lucille Brown in 2001.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Emil Denham, daughter Jonina (John), son Daryld (Karen), daughter Laurie and son Darren (Kim), as well as grandchildren Derek, Brett, Blair, Tyson, Brooklyn, Stefanie, Anna and Tanner. She was blessed with 13 great grandchildren.

Due to COVID restrictions no public service will be held. A celebration of Myrna's life will be held at a later date.
