It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Salvatore “Sandy” Mercia of Evergreen, Alberta. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 28th, 2024.
Sandy was born on June 30th, 1957, in Coledale, Alberta. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley; son, Sheldon, and daughter-in-law Olivia, as well as his two grandchildren Ava and Natalee. Sandy was predeceased by his parents, Salvatore and Gerda, his brother David, and his wife Lori.
Sandy attended David Thompson High School when he was young before becoming a full-time farmer in the Evergreen area. He obtained his pipefitting certificate, and then worked for many years in the oil patch as a pipefitter.
A celebration of life will be held on November 8th at 2pm at the Condor Hall, with the
Inurnment to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home which will go to the Rocky South 4-H Club.
