A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth Arthur Featherstone on June 6, 2025, at the age of 82.
Ken was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. Born on March 20, 1943, Ken spent his early years in Nordegg before moving to Rocky Mountain House in the 1950s, where he lived most of his life. Known for his deep love of camping, rodeos, and community, Ken lived a full and meaningful life.
Ken managed the Bottom Hotel from the 1960s through the 1980s and later managed the Top Hotel until the early 1990s. He went on to work in oilfield security and later at Wilderness Village. In his later years, he worked at Sobeys.
He is survived by his loving daughter Joleen Featherstone and her sons Colton, Brandon, and Ashton; Christine (Reed) Morrison and her children Shania, Brody, and Brake; Shirley Zubeck and her sons Wes and Kenny Crystal (Wes) Befus and their son Jarod; sons Shane James Roy Featherstone and Christofer Stanley Kenneth Featherstone; and his only surviving brother Larry (Elaine). Mother of Chris and Shane, Violet Olson.
Ken’s legacy lives on through his great-grandchildren: Bella, Ali, Seth, Grayson, Grady, Blakely, Saline, and Shelby.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, Margaret Pansy and James Roy Featherstone, his grandson Travis, his brothers Billy and Gordon, and his sister Margaret. Wives Annette and Ellen.
Ken was a man of deep character—steady, humble, and always up for a story or a laugh. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
