Obituary


Earl, James Alonzo

James Alonzo Earl passed away January 10, 2023, at the Rimbey Hospital at the age of 92.

He was born July 30, 1930, to Carrie and Clarence Earl at Nordegg, AB. At the age of 3 he and his family moved to Smith, AB.

After leaving school he worked with Topographical Survey in the summer, lumber camps and sawmills in the winter and some farming.

He met Bessie and later they married April 20, 1956. A daughter Evelyn was born in 1958, Karen in 1960 and in 1963 a son Lonnie joined the family and then Lyndon in 1964.

Jim’s jobs took him to Salmon Arm, BC to Rocky Mountain House, AB. He worked for S & T Drilling as a maintenance man, and they moved to Wetaskiwin. When he was laid off, they moved to Ponoka where he worked at Alberta Hospital. In 1986, they moved again when he and Bessie were hired to do maintenance work at Camp Nakamun, Ab. After helping through a major building program, they left the camp moved into Barrhead where he worked for Home Hardware until retiring then moved to Sundre until 2013 when they moved to a Sr’s apartment in Rocky then in 2019 to Valley View Manor at Rimbey, AB.

He leaves to mourn his wife Bessie of 66 years, daughters Evelyn (Phil) Erickson, Karen Finkbeiner, sons Lonnie (Adena) & Lyndon Earl (Kathy); 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, extended family, many friends and acquaintances.
