Obituary

Larson, Doris Winnifred

January 31, 1925 – January 19, 2020

Doris Winnifred Larson (nee Slack) passed away on January 19, 2020 following a brief illness; two weeks shy of her 95th birthday in Rocky Mountain House. She was born in Wiarton, Ontario January 31, 1925 to Violet and Joseph Slack.

Doris moved to Alder Flats in 1945 to farm and live with her husband Lars until 1994 when they retired to Rocky. Her life was lived in quiet dignity and hard work like so many people of her era. Doris leaves behind 3 children Byron (Debbie), Ross (Mary) and Karen (Gord) Skulski along with 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, as well as her long time best friend and companion Bill Pergotski. Doris was predeceased by her husband Lars Larson in 2001 and her daughter Diane Lee in 2013.

The family feels blessed by their good fortune to have had mom be able to share in so many family gatherings for so many years. Many thanks from the family to the staff of Rocky Mountain Hospital and all the people at Westview Lodge for making these last few years of her life as comfortable as possible.

A celebration of life will be held in the near future.

ELAINE RAMSAY:

Byron, Ross, Karen and families,
"Quiet dignity and hard work" are so apt in describing Doris. I also remember much fun and laughter and patient hostessing that Barry and I got to enjoy back when.

You will miss her, I know.
My condolences, Elaine
