It is with great sadness and loss that the family announces the passing of Darrol Lee Holman on October 29, 2024, after a lengthy battle with health challenges at the age of 78 years.
Darrol was born in Edmonton, Alberta on August 9, 1946, to Velda and Earl Holman. Darrol enjoyed everything outdoors, fishing, ice fishing, camping, and biking which was a love hate relationship. He had a good sense of humor and loved pulling pranks on people. He loved spending time with his grandkids. He loved taking them and the rest of the family out west to get firewood. It was not a hard chore because he always had to have a fire and cook dinner. We always had a fun session. He also loved the May long weekends spent with family and friends around the campfire. Darrol lived most of his life in the Caroline area. His family moved to the Devon area for a short time and then came back to the farm in the Ricinus area. He worked on the rigs for about 20 years and then got a sawmill, made sheds and did wood working.
Darrol is survived by his wife Joyce of 55 years; his son Dolan (Dawn); grandkids Jase (Ronie) Brieanna (Aaron), Brady (Sarah); great grandkids Sutton, Wylder, Axtyn, Brixlee, Skylar, and Cruz; sister in-laws Verma, Carolyn (Bud); several nieces and nephews.
Darrol was predeceased by his parents Velda and Earl Holman; mother and father in-law Betty and Wilbur Stainbrook; sister Virginia and Brian Robertson; brother in-law Roger Smith.
On Darrol’s request there will not be a funeral, the family will have a gathering at a later date.
We would like to send a special thank you to Brian and Tom, the RCMP that came to the house, the fire department and ambulance staff.
Memorial donations can be made in Darrol’s name to ROAR Society.
