Obituary

Peter Henry Hansinger was born to Paul and Mary Hansinger on the family farm north-west of Leslieville on May 12, 1930. He went to Golden Heights School and later took training in mechanics. Early careers involved working in the mine at Nordegg, various lumber mills, and building construction. In his free time he participated in the odd boxing match and played baseball where he was a star pitcher.

On May 10, 1952 he married Marjorie Feyes and they were blessed with two daughters: Cindy (Martinson) and Darlene (Walter).

Peter’s life-long ambitions were focussed on building his farm operation and his special attraction to Hereford cattle. It is noteworthy to mention that in 2006 he was honored by the Alberta Hereford Association as the Commercial Cattleman of the Year.

Aside from farming, Peter was passionate about his unique carpentry projects, hunting, and yearly ice fishing at Battle Lake. Also of utmost importance was his incredible talent as a self-taught accordion player, a talent which he shared with many friends. If you were lucky enough to watch Peter play, you would have seen his incredible smile and tapping foot.

Peter passed away peacefully at Rocky Mountain House hospital on October 26th. As per his wishes there will be no funeral. A private interment will be held at the Hespero Cemetery.
Memorial donations in Peter’s name may be made to the Leslieville Elks.

Condolences

Lorellie Ketchum:

I am sorry for your loss. I was surprised to learn when we bought Chris's Dads place that Pete was a neighbour. I helped him chase his cows one summer 3 times. He shared stories of my Grandpa Wyzykoski and of Eve Menzies. I am sorry for your loss. He lived to a good age.
