Obituary

Skoven, Collene Marie

1975-2021

Sadly, on May 24, 2021, with family by her side Collene lost her courageous battle with cancer. Collene was born December 10, 1975 to Aldonna and Walter Skoven.

Collene grew up on a farm in the Leslieville area where she enjoyed the animals and baking. She won awards for her lemon pie and bread. In 2002, Collene married Desmond Kleinschroth and they resided on her Grandma and Grandpa Luyckfasseel’s farm. In true farm girl style, Collene would grow a huge garden giving away a lot of fresh veggies to family and friends. They fixed up the old chicken coup, Collene got chickens and started selling fresh eggs like her grandma. Collene liked to knit and crochet. She was passionate about quilting and made many beautiful quilts. As the years went by, Collene and Des grew the family and the farm to include 3 kids ages 10, 9 and 4 and many more farm animals.

Collene is survived by her loving husband Desmond; children: Grady, Avery and Bailey; parents: Aldonna and Walter; her sister Christine (Greg); Father-in-law Dale (Ladine); Mother-in-law Shirley (Joey); Brothers-in-law Derek and Doug (Janine); Nephews and nieces: Tyler, Julia Hunter, Holden, Alexis, Ethan and Lorelai. She is also survived by her special cousins Rick and Lani Morrish and numerous more family and friends.

Des and family,

We are truly sorry to hear of Colleen's passing. Reading the obituary, I smiled to myself remembering back to when you and Colleen first started dating, I remember seeing Colleen always Crocheting or knitting (something I myself tried, and miserably failed!) one of her many great skills that she possessed.

There will be many emotions to come, but you have so many people around you who love you all and are always there for you. In any time of need, just reach out and take it day by day. <3

So very sorry for the loss of your dear daughter, sister, wife and mother. I so enjoyed the bond Collene and I had with our passion for quilting. We sent many tips, tricks and ideas back and forth regarding our quilting hobbies via text messages over the years. I so enjoyed that.
Even tho our faith tells us we should rejoice that our loved one is with God, we still can't help but feel sad and lonely. Cherish the memories, Collene will always be with you.
