Victoria Anne Plunkie 1952 - 2022
It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mom, Vikki, at the age of 70 years on Sunday November 6, 2022.
She was born in Highland Park, AB to Olga and Harry Machuk. After which she lived on the family farm until 1969 when they moved into town. Vikki married her husband Robert Nicholson in the fall of 1972. Unfortunately, they were told they were unable to have children, so in 1980 they adopted their first child Ryan. They then adopted their first daughter, Shawna in 1981. In 1986 they experienced their first great loss after conceiving a boy (Franklin) and losing him to still birth. Miraculously they conceived one more time and their daughter, Leah was born in 1988. Vikki and her family moved often as Bob was an RCMP. They lived in many places including Fairview, AB; Spruce Grove, AB; Hay River, NWT; Fort Franklin, NWT and Crowsnest Pass, AB. After Vikki divorced her husband in 1995 she and her daughters settled down in Central Alberta in the Condor area in 1997. Vikki was like a second mom to many of her children’s friends over the years. They would affectionately refer to her as “Mum” when they would stop in on their lunch break to make mushroom soup, grilled cheese and have a chat. Vikki loved all of the “community kids” as if they were her own and would often talk about these special memories over the years. In 2005 Vikki met her loving husband James (Jim) Plunkie and they were married in 2009 in Condor, AB. They moved into their home in Condor where Vikki resided until her passing.
Vikki’s greatest loves were her 7 grandchildren: Katie Collins, Branton Marcotte, Coralynn Nicholson, Trystan Westrop, Kaidyn Buckle, and Sawyer and Fynn Casey. Vikki’s favourite pastimes were camping with her family in their younger years, going to Bingo’s, spending time out in her garden, knitting, spending time with her family, going on trips and to concerts as well as garage sale-ing and thrifting.
Vikki will be forever loved, missed and never forgotten by her three children: Ryan Nicholson, Shawna (Jake) Nicholson, and Leah (Tyler) Casey; her dear grandchildren as well as her loving husband Jim Plunkie. She will also be missed by many other relatives and friends.
A memorial will be held at the Leslieville Community Centre on Saturday November 12, 2022 at 1:00 pm.
