With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Grace Ann Duncan, who left us peacefully on May 21, 2025, in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, at the age of 86, surrounded by her loved ones.
Grace was born on March 3, 1939, in Arcola, Saskatchewan, to Alfred and Olive Simmons. One of twelve siblings, she grew up in a large, loving family-a foundation that shaped her generous and caring nature.
On October 31, 1959, Grace married the love of her life, George Duncan. Together, they built a beautiful life on their farm west of Eckville, Alberta. Where they raised their 3 children David, Bill and Rose. Grace adored the farm life. She found joy in the simple pleasures-watching birds and deer in the yard, tending to her garden and spending countless hours in the kitchen preparing hearty meals, baking and canning the harvest. If you were looking for Grace, chances are she was making something delicious.
Grace was the heart of her family. She was happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Especially during the holidays when her home was filled with laughter, love and the comforting smell of a home-cooked feast. Her apple pie was legendary and served as the sweet finish to many cherished family meals.
Grace's legacy lives on in her son David Duncan, her grandchildren Dolan Baxter (Cassie), Dyrin Baxter, Tyra Baxter (Dallas), her great grandchildren, Austin Roy, Avery Roy, Nevaeh Baxter and Evol Baxter.
She is reunited in peace with her beloved husband George, her son Bill, daughter Rose and other dear family members who have gone before her.
Memorial donations can be made in Grace’s name to the Rocky Roar Society.

Melissa Vollman:
I was one of your mom’s night shift nurses when she was in the hospital. I loved granny grace and her spitfire personality. Was always a pleasure caring for her, laughing with her whether it was her laughing at me or me laughing at her. We spent many hours chatting about the farm, the kids, and the grandkids. She always told me my jam was shit when I tried to feed her pills. My most favourite moments were when she would “wait” for me to finish what I was doing, because she was ready for bed, and then when I’d tuck her in with a warm blanket or two I always got a good night sweetie I’ll see you in the morning. Just as if close the door she’d yell at me to make the damn coffee if I was up first. Was a pleasure to care for her when I did. Thank you for sharing your mom, and granny with me. My condolences.
