Obituary

Doreen Claire Couture
August 4, 1963 ~ August 17, 2023

Doreen Couture, loving wife, beloved mother, and devoted grandmother, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on August 17, 2023. At the age of 60, Doreen concluded her courageous struggle against Multiple Myeloma, a battle she fought with unwavering strength for nine years. She was born on August 4, 1963, in Edmonton to George and Yolande Bachand.

Doreen was a woman of many talents and passions. She pursued a fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse, dedicating herself to caring for others with compassion and empathy. Her unwavering commitment to her patients earned her the respect and gratitude of many. She was known for the exceptional kindness she extended to everyone she encountered.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Doreen was a loving wife of 35 years to Roger Couture. Above all, she was a proud mother to her three sons, Eric, David, and Jacob, and a cherished mother-in-law to Eric's wife, Kimberly. She was a devoted grandmother to her two grandchildren, Elsie and Milton, whom she adored spending time with. Her nurturing spirit and unconditional love brought immense joy to her family.
Whether it was her role as a wife, mother, mother-in-law, or grandmother, Doreen's presence left a lasting impact on the lives of those she held dear.

Doreen's impact extended far beyond her immediate circle. She was an active member of the community and dedicated countless hours to volunteering for various causes. Her passion for helping others and making a positive difference in her community earned her the respect and admiration of many.

Despite her battle with Multiple Myeloma, Doreen's strength, resilience, and positive outlook inspired all who knew her. She faced challenges head-on and never let her illness define her. She showed us all the true meaning of fighting with grace.

Doreen is survived by her husband, Roger, her children, Eric (Kim), David, and Jacob, her grandchildren, Elsie and Milton, her mother, Yolande, her sisters, Jocelyne and Lorraine, and her brother, Marc. A wide circle of friends and family will forever cherish her memory. Her legacy of compassion, dedication, and love will continue to inspire us all.

Rest in peace, Doreen. Your light will forever shine in our hearts.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. I work with Doreen at St.Mary hospital. I was a young nurse who knew very little. Doreen encouraged me and taught me how to Care for patients. Just basic care wasn't good enough and taught me to strive for better. That was the way she talked about her family. She loved all you very much her face always lit up talking about family activities and the crafts she made for everyone. Always wished I had half her energy and zest for life. Prayers for family in this difficult time. May God Bless you and Keep you and give you peace

Doreen …. You will be missed immensely, I know the love you held for your family. I’ve worked along side you and you are genuinely one the most caring nurses I ever met…. You truly loved being a nurse! I’ve been your patient…. And couldn’t have asked for a kinder human to take care of me. Our lime green uniforms …. I will love that color forever!!! Deepest condolences to family and close friends. Doreen was such a joy. Family was her everything and she spoke often of her boys with love and pride. Her smile lit the day and she exuded warmth. I as well had the pleasure of working with Doreen and later enjoyed many improtu meets and chats at the grocery store. We will miss those visits - but remember the smiles and laughs.

I had the privilege of working with Doreen when she came to the Rocky Hospital, until her diagnosis. She was one of the most compassionate nurses that I have ever know. She loved being a nurse - every day. She enjoyed people, and was always up for a laugh. She was devoted to her family, and so proud of her boys. I am so glad that she was able to meet her grandchildren.

Karin Nijenhuis:

Enjoyed so much working with you. Your were one of the best to work with. And you were the best in Suduko's. Then you got sick, and sometimes we would meet at the Co_op. And you were so optimistic, and looking good. So your passing caught me by surprise. When you first got sick, you told me you wanted to see grand children. I am happy your wish came true. But we would have loved to have you around longer. It was a pleasure to work with you. My condolences to her family, her life will go on in your memories, and grand children's smiles
