Donna Dorise (Tams) Cook passed away on August 13, 2023 in Rocky Mountain House. Donna was born on June 20, 1941 to Frank and Alys (Butler) Tams. She was raised east of Innisfail with her siblings on the family farm.
Donna attended school in Innisfail and went on to be an honor student and scholarship recipient at Lindsey Thurber High School in Red Deer. She graduated from Alberta School Hospital nursing program in 1965 and graduated from Red Deer College in 1976 where she made the Honors List in Rehabilitation. She continued working in her chosen field of nursing for 30 years at Michener Centre before retiring in 1995.
Donna married Ralph Cook in 1958 and they lived in Red Deer and Sylvan Lake before retiring to the Cow Lake area near Rocky in 1996 where they were active members of the community.
She travelled to many places throughout Europe and North America and enjoyed gardening and time spent with all the horses and dogs they owned over the years. She devoted much of her time lovingly caring for Ralph as his health deteriorated and after he passed, she spent her final years visiting with her friends and family.
She will be forever remembered and missed by her daughter Gail (Lee Stuckey), dear friends Bea and Caroline and numerous nieces and nephews. Donna was predeceased by her husband Ralph, parents Frank and Alys Tams, sisters Marilyn and Florence, brothers Bill and Mel.
At Donna’s request, there will be no funeral service.
Donna was an ardent supporter of ROARS and if desired, donations can be made in her name at www.roarsociety.ca

My sincerest condolences to Gail. I only visited with your mom a view times but each time left me with a warm feeling because she was so loving. Her dogs were just a lot of fun to be around and she was so generous with her gifts to my daughter who will always treasure them. Donna had a wonderful life and devoted much of her love to Ralph. Rest in peace.
Elly Eckardt:
Went in to read to the residents at Good Sam today and was so saddened to hear about your mother’s recent passing Gail. Donna often came out to the library when I was reading and she was always smiling and happy to be with us. I have met you a few times Gail while visiting Gladys Miller, just down the hall, and a couple of times at Grillers when you had your mum out for lunch or were just bringing her home. I so admired how devoted you were to your mum and I know your visits meant the world to her. I hope knowing your mum is now no longer struggling will bring you comfort. You can be sure she is dancing and smiling from ear to ear. My sincere sympathy to you and your family. Elly Eckardt
