Gilda Kathryn (Goble) Henrie
It is with sadness mingled with joy that we announce the entry of an angel into heaven.
Gilda was born December 8, 1927 in Aetna, AB to Roy Goble and Esther Caroline Jensen. Their family moved to Calgary while she was still a young child. She completed all of her schooling there, and then went to the U of A where she graduated with the nursing class of 1950. She worked as a RN in Salt Lake City, Utah, before returning to Calgary, where she worked at the General Hospital.
She met her husband Gaylon and they were married 6 months later on July 28, 1954. They had seven children: Kathryn Ann (Robert) Dewling, Glenn (Tammy) Henrie, Roy Alan Henrie, Richard Neil Henrie, Delyn Boyd Henrie, Carol Jane Henrie and Gayle Marie Henrie.
In 1966, she and Gaylon bought land just outside of Rocky Mountain House and at the end of the school year- June 1967, they moved to the family farm, where she resided for 52 years. In August 1967 she started working at the Rocky Hospital. We still have people approach is to tell us how wonderful our mother was as a nurse and how much they appreciated her care. She delivered many babies here in Rocky. Their mothers always asked if Gilda was working, and if she was, they said not to bother calling the doctor in.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and travelled many miles and spent many hours usually on her days off, to fulfill her many church responsibilities.
Gilda was predeceased by her parents and her brothers, Cyril and Max; her husband Gaylon on February 7, 2012 and by 3 children: Gayle in 1969, Delyn in 1979 and Richard in 1989. Our family skipped the year 1999.
Gilda is survived by 4 children: Kathryn, Glenn, Roy and Carol; as well as 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; and her brother Dee (Frances McPhee) Goble.
Gilda will be interred at the All Hallows Chedderville Cemetery between her daughter Gayle and her husband Gaylon.
