In Loving Memory
Curt Domonkos
September 15, 1964 - May 13, 2022

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Curtis Paul Domonkos, on Friday May 13th, 2022 in Lacombe, Alberta at 57 years of age.

Curt was born on September 15th, 1964, in Prince George, BC, to Bill and Betty (Campbell) Domonkos. He was the youngest of four children, the baby of the family. Curt grew up in Topley Landing, BC where his parents owned and operated The Totem Lodge, on the pristine and scenic Babine Lake; he attended Babine Elementary and Secondary School in Granisle, BC. He was known for his natural mechanical abilities, his stubborn and independent nature, and his ability to fall asleep in the most unusual places. As a youngster, Curt was called “Curt Squirt” by the Fishery crew because he helped them to get boat gas and mix oil. Following high school, Curt apprenticed as an electrician, with Northview Electric, in Slave Lake, AB. It is there that he met his wife Tracy. They married June 29, 1991.

In 1990, Curt and Tracy moved to Fort McMurray, AB, where Curt began a successful electrical company, Innovative Electrical Services; he completed his Master Electrician at Keyano College. They had two children Brad and Carla. He semi-retired in 2005 and moved with his family to Rocky Mountain House, AB. It is here that he developed a passion for Day Trading. In 2018, Curt and Tracy moved to Lacombe, AB.

Curt is survived by his wife of 31 years, Tracy (Johnston) Domonkos; his children, Brad (Ria) Domonkos and Carla (Matthew) Domonkos; his mom Betty Domonkos and his siblings Brenda (Wayne) Laramie, Allan (Bonnie) Domonkos, and Dale (Kim) Domonkos; nephews and nieces Jos (Rae-Ann) Laramie, Jade (Steve) Laramie, Nathan (Makenna) Kopetski, Cameron (Danielle & Flynn) Kopetski, Celena Domonkos and Benjamin Domonkos; his in-laws Carol Johnston, Wray Adams, Jackie (Marcel) Carrier, and Harvey Carrier and Sarah (Devon) Carrier, Kevin (Kerry) Johnston, Kenzie Johnston and Kaleb Johnston.

He was predeceased by his father Bill Domonkos, his father-in-law Ken Johnston, his sister-in-law Brenda Johnston, and his niece Brandy Johnston.

Curt cared deeply about was his family. He loved his kids Brad (Ria) and Carla (Matthew) so much; they were his reason for living. He loved watching children play and he loved animals. He will lovingly be remembered as a friendly man, who could talk to anyone. He was very intelligent and knowledgeable in a wide range of subjects. Curt will also be remembered by his ability to build and fix anything, from doing general vehicle maintenance to fixing the wheels on an elderly lady’s cart. He liked to help others, known and unknown, with projects big and small.

In addition to Day Trading, Curt also had a keen interest in aviation and river boating. Curt received his pilot’s license in 1991 and enjoyed flying and the flying club community. He also liked to build and fly RC planes and helicopters. More recently he discovered flying simulators and the challenge of learning to fly different aircraft. Curt was as comfortable on the water as he was In the air.

Thank you to everyone for your love and support during this very difficult time! Curt’s family will have a Celebration of Life with close friends at a later date.

I’m so sorry for your loss Tracy, Brad, and Carla. I have many memories of Curt growing up. His friendly smile and genuine laugh. I remember the first time I ever went water skiing was on his boat… he was so patient with all of us kids wanting to give it a try and lasting up on top of the skis for all of 4 seconds haha. I’ll never forget that summer day. He was so much fun to be around and will be very missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Hugs.
