It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of Sylvia Josephine Duhamel, who peacefully left us on November 19, 2024, surrounded by her devoted family. Sylvia was born on September 23, 1943, in Hanna, Alberta, to Percy and Mary King.
Sylvia’s life was one defined by her unwavering devotion to her family, her strong sense of community, and her remarkable kindness. A wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she brought light and love to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Sylvia is survived by her beloved husband of over 50 years, Donald Duhamel, with whom she shared a lifetime of cherished memories and adventures. Together, they built a legacy of love and family, raising their four children: Lorie (Bob) King, Dan (Vivian) Duhamel, Michelle (Andrew) Duhamel, and Jeremy (Shelley) Duhamel, she is also survived by her sisters: Carol Armstrong and Priscilla Summers.
Sylvia was a proud and loving grandmother to her treasured grandchildren: Mellissa (Nicholas) Reis, Athena & Callen Peters, Randi (Chad) Duhamel, Morgan (Susanna) Duhamel, Matthew Duhamel, Mistaya & Turi Duhamel, Tyler & Toni King, Katie &Jessie & Kirsty McLaren,
Her great grandchildren: Corbin, Burton, Hailey, Marcos, Malique, Mikael, Jeff (Serena), Ethan, Kenora, Eli, Theo, Micah and Tyler Jr.
Her Great Great grandchildren:
Jayton, Jarryn, Javion.
Her gentle wisdom, generosity, warm hugs, and contagious laughter created a lifetime of beautiful memories for them all.
Sylvia will be remembered for her compassionate spirit, her love of nature, and the warmth she brought to every gathering. She had a knack for making everyone feel welcome and valued, whether through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or her famous home-hand crafted cards and cooked meals.
A celebration of life will be held to honor Sylvia’s life on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Rocky Funeral Home 4804-48 Street Rocky Mountain House, AB
The family extends their gratitude to the caregivers at the Clearwater Centre who provided comfort and support in Sylvia’s final days. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made The Compassionate Care Hospice Society
