Obituary

Holman, Dennis Lloyd
June 29, 1951 – June 1, 2024
Dennis was born to Violet (nee. Courtright) and Harley Holman in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta on June 29, 1951. He passed away peacefully with his family at his side on June 1, 2024, in the Red Deer Regional Hospital. Dennis grew up in Rocky until the age of 14 when the family moved to B.C. He lived in Cherryville and made some lifelong friends.
At the age of 16 he lied about his age and got hired onto an oil rig. This began his career in the oilfield working on rigs. He worked for various companies and spent some time working in Kuwait. It’s been said that you couldn’t find a smoother driller than he was.

He was diagnosed 7 years ago with congestive heart failure and given 5 years. He was very proud of the fact that he stayed the extra 2 years and never needed to use any walking aids. I asked Dennis on his final day if there was anything he wanted to put in his obit and he teared up feeling very gifted to be able to have any input. He wanted me to tell his children to love each other and forget and forgive for any past issues and jealousies. He just wants them all to find peace.

Dennis is survived by his children: Jed (Dawn), Shona and Derick; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; his siblings Leanne (Richard Knorr) Nelson, Laureen (Brian) Guenther, Lorna (Jim) Beanblossom, Jackson (Denise) Holman; various nieces and nephews and their spouses and families.
He was predeceased by both his parents; younger brother Norman; niece Lindsay Guenther; and brother-in-law Erin Nelson.

A Celebration of Dennis’ Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 8, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024, at 2:00PM.
