Ronald Rune Olson

October 28, 1954 - June 1, 2021

Ron passed away peacefully on June 1, 2021, at the Rocky Hospital at the age of 66.

Ron was born in Devon, Alberta on October 28, 1954, to Rune and Doris Olson. He shared many fond memories of his childhood and the adventures he had growing up.

Ron was an avid fastball player, hockey player, and water-skier. He played for the Texaco Chiefs, Butte Rebels, and the Voyageurs. His joy in his younger days were sports and his family. In his later years, he absolutely loved being a “Grampa”.

Ron was very intelligent, always had facts to share and stories to tell. He found happiness in helping others, was a very devoted son and helper to his parents in their later years and was willing to drop everything to help someone else.

He will be missed by his son, Michael; daughter, Tracy (Logan); grandchildren: Brooke, Natalie, Claire, and Madelyn; sister, Teresa; and the mother of his children, Lisa. He will be forever remembered by his nieces and nephews, Joel (Darrel-Lynne); Rye; Desiree (Michael); Nathan (Tashina); as well as numerous cousins and friends.

Ron was predeceased by his parents, Rune & Doris Olson; his brother, Kerry; niece, Dayna; and nephew, Nigel.

As per Ron’s request, there will be no funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, lend a helping hand to your neighbors. Donations can be made to local sports charities of your choice.

So sad to hear about Ron’s passing. Remember him and his dog when he was working at a Caroline gas plant that I was working at. Fond memories of him and Michael when they would team up and play together in the Rocky Victim Services golf tournaments. In the past few years whenever I saw him , he was always telling me about how great his grandchildren were. My sincere condolences to Michael, Tracey and her family and Lisa. May God Bless you and be extra close to you in the coming days as you grief the loss of your father and grandfather.

Marlene & Leonard Levinsky :

My deepest sympathies to Ron’s Family on the loss of your Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Uncle. I knew Ron when our family lived in Rocky (1977-1986). Ron was a great guy, always smiling, and was a kind and generous man. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.

Ernie and Judy Rodermond :
