Darlene Ingrid Collins (Berg)
January 26, 1954- March 4, 2024
Darlene Ingrid Collins entered into rest unexpectedly on March 4, 2024 at home in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta at the age of 70.
She is survived by her loving husband Ray Collins, son Jason Collins, daughter Shannon Paradis (Bert), sister Lorraine Berglund (Moe), sister Divona Higgins (Darcy), grandchildren Payton, Ethan, Danica, Jeremy, Presley and Callie along with her one and only great grandson Banks.
Darlene was predeceased by her father Victor Sakarias Berg, mother Ingrid Maria Berg, sister Loretta Lindstrom (Jim), brother Darrell Berg, her nephew Nathan Lloyd Higgins, mother in law Lillian Collins and sister in law Colleen Latimer.
Darlene was born and raised in Barrhead, Alberta on the family farm. She met Ray on a blind date on Friday, June 13, 1975 and they were married on March 27, 1976.
Darlene worked at the Rocky Health Unit where she met many of her close friends. We are so grateful that some of them were able to come celebrate her for her surprise 70th birthday party.
Darlene and Ray enjoyed travelling, they spent many summers in Peachland, BC but her most favorite place to go was Hawaii, which they went back to for many years.
After her retirement Darlene spent many days and weekends out at Wilderness Village with her grandkids enjoying the pool. If she wasn’t at the pool she spent many weekends and school nights watching her grandchildren playing all of their sports. She was truly their biggest fan and will be missed in all the stands cheering them on.
Our hearts are broken on her sudden passing, life will not be the same without her. She had the most contagious smile, funniest sense of humor and loved life to its fullest.
On behalf of the family, we would like to thank everyone for all the kind words, the wonderful stories you have shared, but most of all the love and support that you have shown us all in this time of grief.
As per Darlene’s request there will not be a service.
In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation in her memory, please donate to the Alberta Cancer Society.
