Mike left this world way too soon! This world is going to miss an amazing and extraordinary smart man! He is in God’s hands now and his pain and suffering are no more! Mike put up a courageous fight to battle Esophageal Cancer! He passed away peacefully at Hospice in Red Deer, Alberta after fighting Cancer for 6 months. Mikes body just could not fight anymore, he had suffered greatly
with the dreadful disease.
Surrounded by his wife Angela, Son Christopher, Daughter Lindsay (Laken). Mike leaves behind a legacy as a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, and Brother but also a dear friend to so many with his loving and giving, helpful nature.
Mike was born in Burnaby, B.C. but was raised mostly in the Okanagan where he loved to play tennis and water skiing, quite a few more sports. I wanted to add that Mike loved camping and quading the muddier all the better! Spending time going for a ride with wife Angela on his Harley Davidson. He had to work first even before school to deliver papers very early in the morning before school.
He moved to Alberta to advance a career of becoming a Welder in the early 1980s. Mike was a Welder for about 30 years until he decided that he was tired of that and became an Inspector Superintendent and Supervisor at many Oil and Gas Companies and different sectors.
Mike was such a talented man, there really was not anything that he could not do or fix or at least try. He was a Carpenter, Electrician, Plummer, Mechanic just so impressive! Not just what he could do but he had an amazing gentle soul, he never got too excited about things, he just handled things very well and with ease.
Mike is survived by his wife Angela of fourteen and a half years but has been together for over 17 years building a life in Alhambra, Alberta.
Mike was predeceased by his brother Johnny, his parents Elizabeth Stiopu and John Stiopu.
He is survived by his children Lindsay Wennerstrom (Laken),
Christopher Stiopu (Darien), Nicole Stiopu (Alexandra), Stepsons Ian Gable (Angela), Evan Gable (Angela); Brother Peter Stiopu, Irma Phinney, Betty Swagger (Mike), Numerous Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews and abundance of good friends.
A celebration of life will be held in Rocky Mountain House, on December 21, 2024, at 1 :00 at Church of Nazarene, 5340-59 Avenue, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.
