A celebration of life will be held later to allow her family and friends time to heal.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Red Deer Regional Hospital in her name.
Irene built a life that was full of love and laughter. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a good, kind, funny, considerate, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Irene Sacrey (née Ropson), 61, of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, passed away on March 8, 2025, in Red Deer Regional Hospital. Irene was born on November 15, 1963, in Hampden, Newfoundland, to Maxwell and Maisie Ropson. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Derrick, their children, Lori Sacrey (Allen Hurst) and Terri Sacrey, and five grandchildren, Logan, Alexander, Kalli, Evangeline, and Charlotte. She was preceded in death by her father, Maxwell.
Irene loved to create fun. She enjoyed crafting and could be found making gifts for her friends and family. She had a contagious laugh that filled the room. She was mischievous and loved to have a good time; she often gave loved ones’ silly prank gifts to see their reaction.
Irene loved her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A celebration of life will be held later to allow her family and friends time to heal. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Red Deer Regional Hospital in her name.

Lori Bowers :
I am sorry for your loss. I was lucky to have worked with Irene at Sobeys and she was so kind and full of shenanigans which made her so loveable. She ALWAYS made me in a better mood just by being around her. She was an amazing woman and I am happy that I got to know her. My sincere condolences to the family.
Sheldon Saunders:
So sad to hear of Irene’s passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to all my cousins. I will never forget how she loved to laugh and have a good time. The last time I visited with my sister and brother-in-law she gave me one of her welcome signs that she crafted. I will cherish it always and never forget the memories we shared.
