Obituary

Art Blazina

January 25, 1950 - September 29, 2021

Arthur John Blazina passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord Jesus Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Red Deer Regional Hospital.

Art was born in Calgary to Ada and John Blazina, the 3rd son in a family of 7 children. Growing up in Calgary, he met his sweetheart through mutual friends when 15 and married at 19. His early career as an air traffic controller took them to Ottawa, Inuvik, and then back to central Alberta at the Edmonton Area Control Centre. While raising a family in the Wetaskiwin area, Art turned his life over to the Lord Jesus at the age of 27 years and soon embarked on a life journey of Christian ministry. It was always his aim to please his Lord. Changes in career continued when they moved from Red Deer to Calgary where he was a self-employed contractor for many years.

Following the Lord’s direction, Art and Diane moved to Rocky Mountain House in 2003, and his contracting continued when he built their acreage home there.

He always applied himself where possible to service within the Christian church. He deeply loved studying the Bible and teaching others. As he entered retirement, he thoroughly enjoyed all the outdoor work that the acreage had to offer, particularly clearing bush, felling trees, and splitting wood. But he was never too busy to cuddle with all his grandchildren and loved each one dearly.

He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Diane (Reitzel), their 3 children and their families: Maxwell and Lynda Blazina: their children Ryshon and (Craig Jesske), Christian and (Kiara) Blazina, and Tryse and (Alex Baker); Carl and Carly Blazina: their children Olivia, Joel, Kezia, Milly, Jon, and Daniel; and Shelley and Greg Parkin: their children Clanton, Nelson, and Audrey; extended family of his brothers and sister; Richard Blazina, Norm and Val Blazina, Mart and Liz Blazina, Daryl and Wendy Blazina, Shannon Blazina and many nieces and nephews will miss him as well.

Arthur was predeceased by his parents Ada and John Blazina, as well as sister Sherry, as a baby.

Our deep appreciation goes out to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Rocky and Red Deer hospitals for their compassionate care. We are thankful he is now in the care of our Lord and Saviour, and we look forward to seeing him soon.

A private service will be held at Saturday, October 16,2021 at 1:30 pm with Interment at 3:00 pm at the Pine Grove Cemetery following the service, Rocky Mountain House, AB.

Guests who wish to pay their respects may do so from 1:00 - 1:30 PM.

Condolences

Paul and Patty Vallee:

Diane and family,
We were away and just heard of Art’s passing when we returned. Please accept our deepest condolences. Art was a delightful man with a deep love for the Lord. Although he is enjoying the presence of God we know it is a painful time for you and we are praying for you all. Love Paul and Patty Vallee.

Carl & Sybil Sewell:

Dear Diane,
Carl and I would like to express our condolences to you and the family regarding the recent death of Art. We always enjoyed working together at CCF and most particularly have fond rememberances of a Marriage course you and Art ran in the Meeting Place for CCF Christian family. Kindness of heart and willingness to listen and talk about any problems that arose made working with Art a joy. He will sorely be missed in this world, but we are grateful to know he is with Jesus now and we will see him again. That in itself is a joy to look forward to.

Our deepest sympathy,
love in the Lord,
Carl & Sybil Sewell

John and Linda Bruketa:

Our deepest sympathies

Mart Blazina:

It is with profound sadness that I mourn Arts passing; I loved him dearly. Art confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour for the past 44 years, and so it is also with tremendous hope and joy that I see his passing from this life to the next, with anticipation, knowing that he is forever in the presence of the Almighty.

I pray a very special blessing of comfort and peace for Diane and the entire Blazina family as we go through this time of loss.
Mart

"Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?
(John 11:25-26)

Dawn and Eric Humphrey:

We are so sorry to hear of Art’s passing. It is clear that Art has a lasting legacy. We are thinking of you in these difficult days.

Karen Shearer:

Art cared deeply about others and made it a point to always check on my spiritual well being. He was an amazing example of God’s grace and gentleness. I look forward to giving him a big hug when we meet up in heaven. My love to all of the family.

Gary and Carol Parkin, Cochrane, Alberty:

May the Lord's peace rest upon family, friends, and all who came to know Art.

Len Doroshuk:

Art was a true believer. His quiet disposition and firm faith will be missed by our fellowship
