Obituary

Anna Elizabeth (Betty) Stainbrook
1927 - 2020
On February 23, 2020 we said goodbye to our loving mother, grandmother, and sister as she passed away peacefully at the Rocky Mountain House Hospital at the age of 92.
Betty was born in Red Deer, Alberta, one of ten daughters. She was raised in the Butte area, then continued her education in Camrose, Alberta. She married Wilbur Stainbrook on January 14, 1948 and they settled on a farm in the Butte area where they lived for 40 years. In the years following their marriage they welcomed three daughters to the family. When they retired, they moved to an acreage near Rocky Mountain House, then later to Westview Lodge.
Betty is survived by her daughters: Joyce (Darrol) Holman, Carolyn (Bud) Jameson, and Verna Smith; grandchildren: Dolan (Dawn) Holman, Tamara (James) Chapman, Kim (Dan) Kadyk, Mike (Deena) Jameson, Sandy Jameson (Andrew Hodges) and 12 great grandchildren; sisters: Shirley Tomalty and Edith (Percy) Knapp; sisters-in-law: Jean (Don) Van Kleek and Nelda Stainbrook; brother-in-law Vince Martinoski.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Wilbur Stainbrook; son-in-law Roger Smith; her parents, Gladys and George Johnson; her sisters: Nellie (Harry) Maaskant, Evelyn (Frank) Jarvis, Lillian (Dane) Ceasor, Ruth (Arnold) Moger, Gwen (Gusty) von Hollen, Marie (John) Waugh, and Arlene Martinoski, and brother-in-law Howard Stainbrook.

A Memorial Service for Betty will be held at the Caroline Complex on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to the Rocky Mountain Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Betty’s name to the charity of your choice.

Marlayne:
Joyce, Carolyn & Verna and all families connected I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Betty has a special place in my heart and she will be missed.
Clayton and Sonja :
Dear Joyce, Carolyn, Verna and families,
Your mom was such a lovely lady and always happy to share a chuckle about any little thing. I know you will all miss her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Our sympathy,
Clayton and Sonja.
Keith and Bernie Leavitt:
So sorry to hear that another Butte pioneer has passed away. Betty (and Wilbur) were such good neighbours. So positive, friendly, and encouraging. And great community supporters. Having a visit with Betty (or Wilbur) always buoyed one's spirits and made life just a little brighter. She was a very special lady (with a very special laugh!) and will be greatly missed. Our sincere condolences go out to all of Betty's family and friends who are mourning her loss at this time. May God bless you all.
Roy and Donna Tomlinson & Thelma (Chick) Lewis:

We would so like to be there for you and give each of you a big hug but due to unforeseen circumstances will not be able to attend your mom's Memorial. Know that we will be thinking of you in the days ahead. Sending lots of love and prayers,

Kim Rose:
I am very sorry that our family will not be able to attend the funeral. Jenna has a Special Olympics swim meet in Airdrie on Saturday. She has been enjoying swimming with the Special Olympics swimming club so much, and has improved a lot. I will be thinking of Betty, who was like an extra grandma to me. She had laughter and love to share with everyone around the campfire for so many years. She shared so much with the community too. I am also thinking of everyone in your family and your loss.
Glenda an Kevin an Fran:
We were deeply saddened by the passing of Anna. We have come to know her over the past 2 years at Westview Lodge. She was always happy and told some great stories and loved to laugh. She was a very proud lady. It was always a pleasure to see and speak with Anna. We will dearly miss her. Our most sincere sympathy goes out to her family.
Mike Leavitt:
