Obituary

Elizabeth Rose Staudinger (nee Kurtti) was lifted from the bonds of this world and was received into the arms of Jesus on July 24, 2024.

With sadness we miss her deeply, but with joy we will remember her. Elizabeth, "Beth", was born on August 5, 1950, to parents Rafael and Ada Kurtti of Astoria, OR, where she lived until she was 6 years old. Her family then moved to Salem, OR, where she spent most of her childhood years. After finishing high school and business training, she lived with her sisters and various friends in Portland, OR. She moved to Detroit, MI for a year, and then moved back to Portland, where she was living when she met her future husband, George. She and George were married on August 20, 1973, and they began their life together in Hay River, NWT, where daughters Rebecca and Rachel were born.

George and Beth moved to the Leslieville area in 1977 where Jordan and Amy joined the family. They moved to the farm in 1979 where Beth took on her role as a farmer’s wife and mother for the last 45 years.

Beth was predeceased by her sister Sarah in 1955, and brother Steve in 1968, as well as her parents Ray and Ada Kurtti. She is survived by her loving husband George, and her children and grandchildren: Rebecca (Alex) Johnson, children Sarah (Paul) Quintanilla, Paul, Hannah, Peter, Mary, Emma, Philip, Daniel, Mark, David, Becky Ann, Dwayne and Grace; Rachel (Greg) Somero, children Luke, James, Elise, Isaac, Celeste, Levi; Jordan (Reidun) Staudinger, children Rafael, Ingrid, Katherine, Abraham, Henry, Frederik and Benjamin; Amy (Noah) Wiggans, children Flint, Fern and Faith; as well as one brother and six sisters.

When Beth was diagnosed with cancer in April, she bravely endured the hard days that followed, accepting God’s will for her life. Her love for her family was what held her here, but she gracefully trusted in Jesus, and was a testimony to all around her of her faith. Always thinking of others, always smiling, she was always thanking everyone for all the little things they did for her right to the end and when she finally crossed the bar.

There will be a viewing of Beth at 1 p.m. at the Leslieville Community Centre.

Beth’s funeral will be held at the Leslieville Community Centre on August 6 at 2pm, with a graveside service to follow at the Leslieville Cemetery. There will be lunch and fellowship following the service.
Donations in Beth's memory can be made to Compassionate Care Hospice Society.
