Obituary

French, William Lloyd

1938-2021

The French family is sad to announce the passing of William Lloyd French (Bill) on September 10th, 2021.

Born in Hines Creek on January 29th, 1938, to Edna Kate and William Lloyd French. Bill left home at the age of 14 to start working on a Survey Crew in Fairview, he travelled throughout Alberta working on Survey crews. He then became a Tool Push and Driller for Cambridge Drilling and Brinkerhoff. Bill moved to Red Deer in 1956 and worked at the Lacombe Nursery where he met the love of his life Iris. They purchased a farm east of Rocky in 1974. Bill worked at the Rocky Co-op Lumber yard as well as establishing the farm eventually a full-fledged Dairy Farm, shipping milk commercially to Alpha Dairy Pool. Bill retired in 1996 but remained on the farm, until his passing.

Bill leaves to mourn four children; Cindy, Laurie, Pat (Martina), Michael (Elena), three Grandsons: Zachary, Tyler, Branden as well as many other family members and good friends.

Bill was pre-deceased by his wife Iris of 30 years in 1990, his parent: Edna and William; siblings: Arnold, Ivan, Audrey, Irene & Bob; and his grandson Colton Rilling in 2017.

Bill had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a devilish twinkle in his eyes, his favorite past times were flirting with any lady in sight and always joked that he was going to find a 20-year-old to date. He enjoyed quadding and camping, being with his family and friends and of course having a few cold ones while cheering on his favorite team, the Edmonton Oiler's. He also enjoyed a good argument and had a stubborn streak, but he had a huge heart and would do anything to help anyone, he rescued many of us throughout the years.

The family would like to thank all the ladies at Nick's Restaurant that treated him with such kindness, it was the highlight of his day.

As per Bill's request there will be no funeral service, however a graveside service for family will be scheduled at a later date.

Memorial donation in Bill’s name may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Cremation entrusted to the Rocky Mountain Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.
