Obituary

Violet Voje (Erickson)
May 10, 1932 – March 7, 2024

Violet Voje (Erickson) of Rocky Mountain House went home to be with her Lord on March 7, 2024 at the age of 91.

Vi was born May 10, 1932 at Ashmont, AB to Carl and Julia Erickson. She was raised on the family farm and attended school at Duck Lake School. Later, Vi left for Edmonton where she spent the next 12 years working at “Swift Canadian”. After that she worked in an office at “Beaver Lumber” for a few years. When she left Beaver Lumber, she took training for “Certified Nursing Aide” and after completing her course, she was employed at Glenrose Rehab Hospital. She really loved her work there!!

Vi and Norman were married in 1971. They moved to Fargo, N. D. Vi continued working at a Care Center in that City and Norm was a truck driver. He was later offered a job at Trimac Trucking, so they moved to Edmonton and made their home there until 1994. When Norman retired they moved to Rocky Mountain House and did a lot of camping. They also wintered a few years in Arizona.

Among her many interests were sewing, knitting, baking, traveling, camping and playing her guitar. She enjoyed getting together with her friends whenever the opportunity arose for sing-songs and music jams. She loved gospel and country songs.

Vi was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Norman), brothers (Obed, Milo and Ed), sisters (Esther and Clarice), two brothers -in-law (Henry Olson and Elder Danielson), sisters -in -law (Muriel, Laura, Olga).

She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Condolences may be left below.

Condolences

Elsie and Len Halter:

Sincere condolences. To our dear friend Vi. She had a heart of gold!! I remember when we went to visit them at the campsite. She was playing her guitar and I was singing. Jokingly she said “you thought you could yodel, but you couldn’t!” And we laughed! She was always fun to be around. She will be greatly missed!

Dianne & Kim Ferster:

We are saddened to hear of Violets passing we were just thinking about her prior . Vi & Norman used to frequent the Health food store where I worked and we would talk about life. Vi was a frequent customer of Kim's at Sobeys where she used to call Kim her little Butterfly.

Annette Smith:

LeAnn, Koreen, and families,

My deepest condolences on your aunt’s passing. I know it is hard losing a loved one, but a blessing to know she is with her Lord and Saviour. Praying for you all.

Marie Scott:

So sorry to learn of Vi's passing. She was a very dear friend of my mother's, Lucille Hankinson, for several years. They really enjoyed their time together signing and playing guitar.
