Obituary

Edwards, Kayhun

October 28, 1978 ~ October 2, 2021

Kahyun Edwards (Cho) was born in Seoul, South Korea on October 28, 1978 to Kyu Young Cho (Father) and Kyung Sook Kim (Mother). Kahyun worked for many years as an artist in Canada and Germany. Prior to this she taught young children English in Korea. As a citizen of the world she was fluent in Korean, English and German. She had a kind heart and constantly sought to find beauty in our world. She loved to spend time with children and elders and focused on the worth that lies within. Kahyun loved to play the piano, sculpt pottery and create poetic prints. Some examples of her poetry are:

“HOME where love and joy fill each space”

“The best things in life are nearest”

“Cherish all the little moments that truly matter”

“Sometimes miracles are good people with kind hearts”

“Someone is happy because of you”

“What you can become depends on what you can overcome”

“Thank you for this wonderful gift of life”

On October 2, 2021 we lost Kahyun at the age of 42 in a tragic accident. The family would like to thank the courageous first responders and dedicated healthcare professionals who made their best efforts to keep Kahyun on this Earth.

She is survived by her parents Kyu Young Cho and Kyung Sook Kim of Seoul, South Korea; younger brother Eikhyun Cho (Keongwon Yoon) and nephew Benjamin of Columbus, Ohio; younger sister Junghyun Cho (Hyungju Kim), niece Yeonseul Kim and nephew Seungjo Kim of Seoul, South Korea. She leaves behind her many loving family and friends.

Kahyun loved the Rockies more than anywhere else in the world so her ashes will be Inurned in the columbarium in the Canmore Cemetery located on Palliser Trail.

Na Eun/Haena Yang :

Kahyun, you made a big difference to my family's life when we were trying to immigrate to Canada. You helped us immigrate to Duncan, BC and helped us get settled there to her maximum capability. Although I don't remember much back then as I was 11, I remembered you as the loving sister who always went over and beyond to help my family. Kahyun, I am now 26 - all grown up. Thanks to you and your guidance, I have grown to be a healthy adult. I regret that I never got to see you after I began to make a living myself. I always wanted to buy you a grandest dinner. I hope you are in a better place and is how peaceful. Your memories and kindess will always remain with me. As I live, I will always try to be a loving person just like you. Rest in peace.

I want to extend my condolence to Geoff, Jane and Kahyun's family in Korea & US. Stay strong.

Hi Geoffrey
I wa so sorry to hear of your loss. My deepest sympathies are with you for the loss of Kahyun. While no one can fill the hole created by the loss of your love one I know that she would want you to think of all the joy, love and laughter that remains I. The world. I am thinking of you and sending heartfelt sympathies and condolences.

Jada Allen:

Kahyun was always a very kind person to me growing up. She loved animals, cats especially, and always had a big smile on her face. She was the person who gave me my first manga book which lead to a lifelong love of the art style. She introduced me to many new foods whenever I visited that I never would of tried before but am grateful for as they became lifelong recipes that I cherish and will think of her every time I make. She invited me to be part of her wedding party to my brother Geoff and I am thankful for all of the happy memories you had with him. I hope you are in a better place and thriving. Thinking of you often. <3
