Obituary

Lorne Dale Goff
March 21, 1939 - August 13, 2021
Lorne Dale Goff passed away peacefully on August 13, 2021, at the age of 82 years, in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.
Lorne was born to Dina and Vern Goff in Grande Prairie, Alberta, on March 21, 1939. Lorne spent his early childhood on the family farm in Bezanson, Alberta. The family moved to High Prairie for a brief period, but soon moved back to Bezanson to be closer to family. Lorne spent his childhood surrounded by numerous cousins, aunts and uncles, whom he loved dearly.
He attended high school in Grande Prairie, where he began dating his beloved Leta. Lorne and Leta married on November 7, 1958, and welcomed their first son, Garry, the following year. Dave followed several years later on August 11, 1968, and they welcomed home Lisa on March 31, 1972.
When they were first married, Lorne worked at the International Dealership in Grande Prairie. In 1963, he attended Forestry School in Hinton, Alberta, beginning his lifelong career with the Alberta Forestry Service. As his career progressed, the family moved to numerous locations in Alberta. Lorne retired as the Superintendent of the Rocky Clearwater Forest in 1996.
After retirement, Lorne and Leta moved out to the “Cow Lake Ranch,” where Lorne renewed his love of horses and riding. Lorne especially enjoyed chasing the wild horses in the Rocky Mountains.
In 2001, after a very brief illness, Leta passed away and Lorne moved back to Bezanson, where he spent several years. In 2006, he married Milly McKenzie, and moved back to Rocky. Lorne and Millie enjoyed riding and Lorne was an active member of the Gymkhana Club in Rocky. The McKenzie’s readily accepted Lorne into their family and he enjoyed many family outings to the West Country with them.
Lorne is preceded by his parents, Dina and Vern Goff; his wife Leta; his brother Gerald; his great-grandson Roman; stepson Russell McKenzie; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by his children, Garry (Val), Dave (Jackie) and Lisa (Brian); his grandchildren Ashley (Lee), Ryan (Sheri), Lindsay (Riley), Elizabeth, Quinton, and Adam; and his great-grandchildren Elliott, Pearl, Willow, Isla and Arthur.
Lorne is further survived by his wife Milly; his stepsons Ron (Laurie), Tom (Tracy), Randy (Lana) and Darren (Angela); and stepdaughters, Trish, Bonnie (Gil), Linda (Scott) and Shelley (Kelly); Russell's wife Sandy and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service Will be held at St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church, in Rocky Mountain House on Friday, August 20, 2021, at 2:00 PM

So sorry for your loss Millie. We have many good memories of Lorne. He was one of the Jensen Cousins born in the Bezanson area of Alberta, 5 families that all had kids about the same time and all families farmed in the same area. What wonderful times we had, playing with our cousins and growing up together. Rest in Peace, Cousin Lorne.
