Larsgard, Alice Jane
1947 - 2023
On Saturday, November 11, 2023 Alice Jane Larsgard passed away suddenly at her home at the Clearwater Center in Rocky Mountain House. Alice was always known for her kindness and caring for others which was evident in how many people called her mom and grandma beyond just her family. She had a heart that was open to everyone she met and always put others before herself.
Alice was born on August 2, 1947 to Earl and Daisy Bryant in Rocky Mountain House AB. Alice was the middle child of five children that Earl and Daisy raised just outside of town. She said her favorite place on the farm was sitting on the swing looking at the clouds to see what her imagination could find
Alice met and married John Larsgard from the Bingley area on March 18, 1967. They lived on John’s family farm until 1970, when they moved to the Frisco community. It was there that they raised their three daughters, Deanna. Anita, and Linda. John and Alice were both adventurers at heart so they packed up the family and moved to Armstrong BC in 1980. Then back to the family farm in the Bingley area. They loved to travel and see new things. Their favorite trip was to New Zealand where they both thought we should all move to, when they returned.
Alice had many talents, she loved to bake as anyone who came to visit would attest to, there was always baking to share with friends. She was an amazing sewer eventually falling in love with quilt making. She seemed to know exactly what to make for each person she gifted with one of her creations. She was a caregiver, provider, and danced a mean polka with our dad. Alice said many times the thing she was most proud of were her girls.
Alice was predeceased by her husband, of 54 years, John Larsgard in August 2021. She is survived by daughters Deanna (Brent) Van Koughnett, Anita (Jim) Terry, and Linda (Jon) Yarwood; four grandchildren Leland (Angel) Neubeker, Courtney (Deryk) Harper, Kandis Jackson, and Cory Larsgard; and many great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister Emily (Barry)Steer, Edith (Ken) Stewart, and brother Bob (Gerry Williams) Bryant, and sister-in-laws, Mary (Dale) Fredine, and Margret (George) Larsgard. There are also many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. Alice was predeceased by her sister Mildred Rostecki, sister-in-law Wendy Bryant, Rhona Larsgard, Annie Larsgard, and by brother-in-laws Frank Larsgard and George Larsgard.
Alice had a loving heart and will be missed by all that knew her.
A Memorial Service for Alice will be held at the Rocky Mountain House Church of the Nazarene on Friday, November 24, 2023 at 1:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The ROAR Society.
Melissa Vollman:
My condolences to the family. As much as I didn’t want patients to stay in the hospital, or end up in the hospital I did enjoy caring for Alice. We spent many of her sleepless nights chatting away, me entertaining her with the wild stories of the day’s activities brought on by my feral 4 boys. Her favorite story that she always remembered was when my 3 year old twins put the garden hose in the house on full blast, she laughed even harder this last summer when I told her they did it again !
Rest easy Alice, I’m going to miss our visits.
