LaVaye Marguerite Ross (nee Deetjen) was born August 4th, 1940, in Alliance, Nebraska passed away at the Clearwater Center April 28, 2025, at the age pf 84 years of age; daughter of Margaret & George Deetjen.
LaVaye was a people person, she loved meeting her friends (Maple Ridge, BC) at the park, having coffee and playing dice games. LaVaye spent time walking dogs and house sitting for friends. She never met a dog she did not like & the dogs loved her. Lavaye loved hiking, gardening, and just visiting. She loved garage sales and antique stores. She made the most awesome bean soup, which everyone tried to replicate. In 1959 she married Robert Laurain (Bugs) Ross. LaVaye started to embroider a tablecloth pre-marriage and still has not finished!
The family Deetjen immigrated to Canada in March of 1949, LaVaye became a proud Canadian in December 2005.
Lavaye is survived by her children Lance, Kelly (Sheila); grandchildren Christopher Ross, Erika Ross (Wick Potts), Tana (Ross) Bruce; great grandchildren Carter, Teddy Potts; sister Denice (Dennis); brother Ron (Cheryl); Robert Ross; many nieces, nephews, and friends near and far.
Predeceased by her parents Margaret and George; brother Don; partner Brian Bello.
LaVaye’s family thank the staff at the Clearwater Centre for the love and care they gave her while residing there and at her final moments.
In lieu of flowers donations in LaVaye’s memory can be made to the Rocky Mountain House Good Samaritan Society or SPCA.
