Gray, Eric Edwin
1933 – 2022
Eric Edwin Gray passed away peacefully on July 22, 2022 at the age of 89 in Red Deer, Alberta.
Eric was born on May 10, 1933, in Carlos, Alberta to parents Valentina and Earl Gray. He was one of 8 children, the only boy with 7 sisters! He has lived a long life and is survived by only one sister, Carol Nothof (Tom) and one brother-in-law, Earl Hollingsworth along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents and sisters, Kathleen (Bruce) Johnson, Eileen (Johnny) Playfair, Nellie (Harry) Herringer, Jean (Harold Parker), Mona (Glen) Brun, and Alma Hollingsworth.
Eric married Betty Nickle on November 25,1955. Together they travelled all over Alberta as he worked on road construction in the summers and lumber mills in the winter, finally settling in the Rocky Mountain House area in 1971. In 1975, they moved to what was originally his grandparents, Stephanida and Edwin Jensen's farm north of Leslieville. They spent many years there before moving to Rocky to spend their final years.
Eric was pre-deceased by his wife Betty in 2018 and daughter Darlene in 1972.
He is survived by his daughter Linda (Danny) Urbinsky, son David (Sharon)Gray and daughter Tina (Steve)James. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Chris (Sandra Bassett) Urbinsky, Kelly (Jason) Millar, Robin Gray, Matthew James and Danielle James, along with 2 tiny ginger great granddaughters, Lucille and Simone Millar.
