Morrow, Leslie
1954-2023
It is with great sadness that we announce that Leslie Melvin Morrow passed away peacefully on May 2, 2023 at Bethany Care Centre in Calgary, Alberta with his wife by his side.
Les is survived by his loving and dedicated wife Tania and children: Helen, Howard, Leeanne (Leigh), Leslie Jr. (Crystal) and Randy (Laura); by his brother Howard and sisters Bonnie and Eileen and seven grandchildren: Justis, Aulora, Reid, Rylan, Kesler, Stella and Margot; numerous nieces and nephews.
Les was preceded in death by his mother Helen and his father Melvin.
Les was born in Kamsack Saskatchewan on August 14, 1954. As a young man growing up in The Pas Manitoba he had a passion for being with his friends, playing the drums, playing hockey and driving motorcycles especially his Harley Davidson Panhead. He took many trips with his bike across Canada and the USA. In his twenties he moved his family to Rocky Mountain House, Alberta and began his 40 plus year career in Oil and Gas. Working in logistics and warehousing was a passion for Les and even into his late stages of Alzheimer’s he would share stories and talk about projects and colleagues he worked with around the world. His career took him from the far north of Canada, to the United States, to Russia and Japan and to Cuba where he met his wife Tania. In his later life Les loved to spend time with his family, travel, stay at hotels and eat at nice restaurants. He spent many weekends watching his grandchildren play hockey, curl and dance. Les took as many opportunities as he could throughout his life to take road trips back to Manitoba to be with his parents and his friends in The Pas. His good nature, friendly smile and excellent sense of humour endeared him to the many friends and colleagues he met on his travels and it also made him a favourite patient in his long term care centre. We are devasted at this loss but hold firmly to the fond memories we have of a great father and grandfather. We are also grateful for the excellent care Les received at The Bethany Long Term Care Centre in Hilhurst.
In lieu of flowers those who wish to remember Les may consider a donation in his memory to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories or consider participating in any of the important research projects being run in Canada investigating brain health and dementia such as the Can-Protect Study https://www.can-protect.ca/.
