Obituary

Corry Wadman ( Kooistra)

Corry went to be with her beloved Saviour on the morning of May 10th, 2023, at the age of 96 years.
She was born on July 22, 1926, in Grau in the province of Friesland in the Netherlands. She was the third of four children. Her mother passed away when she was five years old, and they were raised by her paternal grandmother. She met her husband Peter at the age of fifteen and never had eyes for anyone else. They were married in the Netherlands in January 1949 and in May immigrated to Canada with Peter's family. They lived in Coaldale, Diamond City, and Lethbridge before moving to the Alhambra area to farm in 1954. Mom was an avid baker and supplied bread for four households. Her treats of cream puffs and slab cakes were always a highlight. She loved gardening, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She sang in the community and in church choir. She was a volunteer for the Next to New for 29 years.
Corry is survived by her children: Shirley Bergsma, Bert Wadman (Agnes) and Nancy Opden Dries (John). Eight grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Peter and son-in-law Albert Bergsma.
