Sheila passed away surrounded by family & friends July 2, 2024, in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, at the age of 81 years old.
Sheila was born October 6, 1942, to Edna and Russel Lever in Fairview, Alberta. Her sister Sharon and her born as twins, were part of the family of 12. Sheila loved and raised 5 children, was extremely proud that she herself had two sets of twins. She loved her entire family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as the special kinship with her brother Darwin, they were great friends.
Sheila was an excellent storyteller, adventurous, courageous, and had a creative spirit. She was extremely talented, florist by trade, however any new craft that interested her as well she accomplished. She would take time to teach family and friends crafts such as crocheting, sewing, and carpentry to name a few. She was always taking care of people such as always creating boutonnieres and corsages for friends, family and everyone in the homes she lived in the past 4 years.
Sheila had many adventures and experiences living in Australia, Malaysia, Scotland, South Africa and settled in Canada. Even though mom was a well-travelled person she was a down-to-earth, approachable person. She was an exceptional storyteller. We were amazed by mom’s great memory for events in her life. She enjoyed sharing details and funny stories of her childhood, her children’s antics as well as her travel overseas.
Sheila will be dearly missed by all those left behind, she was one of a kind, and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed.
Sheila is survived by her children: Kelly Gunsolley, Candace (Kimm) Horsburgh, and Wendy deBruyn; sister Constance Hendrickson; grandchildren: Chris, Vincent, Graham, Heather, Chelsea, Sharlea, and Julien; great grandchildren: Charleigh, Christiaan, Daniel and Elliana.
She is predeceased by husband Clarence; sons: Robert, Raegen; son in law Christiaan; parents Edna and Russell; siblings: Loretta, Shirley, Audrey, Sharon, Carol, Harold, Goldwin, Raymond, Darwin, and Leonard.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Sheila’s name can be made in support of Diabetes and/ or Kidney Disease.
