Darryl was raised on the family farm in the Bingley area and graduated from the Rocky Mountain House high school in 1967. He worked a few different jobs before becoming a licensed journeyman painter. After working as a painter in Calgary for several years he returned to the Rocky area and purchased the family farm. He farmed and operated his own painting business for a number of years. He then went to work for the Wildrose School Division and finished his working life in the paint shop at W. Pidhirney Welding.

Darryl married Betty Frederick in 1968 and they had two children, Susan and Gordon. Betty and Darryl divorced. Years later Darryl married Lena in 2012.

He is survived by his wife Lena, daughter Susan (Graeme), son Gordon, and four grandchildren Gavin, Hayden, Darien, and Dameon. He is also survived by his brothers Don (Darlene) and Dave (Debra), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Darryl was predeceased by his parents Lea and Walter, older brother John and sister-in-law Amy.
There will be a family internment at Leslieville Cemetery at a later date. Darryl will be missed by all who knew him.

My condolences to his family. I had the pleasure of working with both Darryl and Dave when building houses. Darryl was a consummate tradesman and a gentleman. His work was masterful.
