Obituary

With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Carol Jean Reay. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Carol passed away peacefully at the Kooteney Lake Hospital in Nelson BC on October 12, 2024, at the age of 80 years. Carol was born on November 20, 1943, in Rocky Mountain House Alberta, to George and Caroline (Carrie)Hewitt. Carol grew up on the family farm with her six siblings near Caroline Alberta. As a young adult she moved to Rocky Mountain House and there she met and married Robert (Bobby) Wilson and they had three children, Robert (Robby), Randy, and Lisa. After losing her husband in 1973. Carol worked multiple jobs to support her family. During this time, she met her future husband Robert (Bob)Reay. Bob and Carol were married on September 29, 1978, and she gained two more “bonus” children as she would say. Carol led a very active life that was full of hobbies she enjoyed. She loved bowling, curling, gardening, spending time with family and friends and she especially loved golfing. Upon their retirement in 1985 they became snowbirds. For the next 25 years they divided their time by spending the winter months in Arizona and the spring/summer/fall in Balfour, BC. When her health began to decline in 2018, they stayed at their home in BC. Carol is survived by her husband, Bob Reay, son Randy Wilson, daughter Lisa Wilson, stepson Doug Reay, stepdaughter Chris Thorne, brother Robert (Sharon)Hewitt, brother Danielle (Kit) Hewitt, brother Gary Hewitt, sister Charolette (Gordon) Menard, sister in-law Terry Hewitt, sister Sheila (Marvin) Trimble, nieces, nephew and all of their extended families. Carol was predeceased by her parents Carrie and George Hewitt, Bobby Wilson (Husband), Ricky Wilson (Son), Robbie Wilson (Son), Larry Hewitt (Brother), Angela (Angie) Menard (Niece), and Danny John Hewitt (Nephew). Carol touched many people’s lives and will be sadly missed by all that knew her. As per Carols request there will be no funeral at this time. A service will be announced and held in the spring of 2025 in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta for immediate family and close friends.
