A funeral mass for the late Maria Vos will be celebrated at the St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church, in Rocky Mountain House, on Monday, November 13th., at 11:00 a.m. Lunch to follow.

Maria Wilhelmina Fredrika Vos
1929 - 2023

Maria Wilhelmina Fredrika Vos passed away on November 5th. 2023 at the age of 94 years.
Maria Wilhelmina Fredrika Vos was born May 7th,1929 and raised in Lichtenvoorde, Gelderland (Holland). She met her husband, Tony, there and married in 1953. Together, they moved to Canada in 1954, settling in Medicine Hat, and then to Calgary in 1955. Maria and Tony moved to Condor in 1960, where they farmed for many years. They raised six children: Charlie, Barry, Wilfred, Yvonne, Connie and Frances; who all married, and added sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Maria helped work on the farm, being a homemaker and mother. In her spare time, she enjoyed walking and gardening, sewing for the Hearts Sew Caring club, and dancing at community halls to old time music. Later, she enjoyed the Rocky Mountain House and Leslieville senior community activities, especially seniors’ floor curling, and taking senior trips all over Alberta. At the age of 66, Maria learned how to drive. After Tony’s passing in 1994, Maria stayed on the farm for several years, before moving to Rocky in 2008, residing at Sandkastle Kort. In 2020, she moved to Park Avenue, where she enjoyed all the activities and events, bringing smiles to everyone around her until her passing. Maria enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s birthday parties and traveling with family. Maria was always known for her good-natured personality and smile.
Maria was predeceased by her husband, Tony in 1994 and son, Barry in 2001.
Maria is survived by her brother Bennie and Pauline Te Roller, her children, grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews in Holland and Canada.

A funeral mass for the late Maria Vos will be celebrated at the St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church, in Rocky Mountain House, on Monday, November 13th., at 11:00 a.m. Lunch to follow.

Private Family Interment will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery following the service.

Just as I remember her with a warm smile and a twinkle in her eye whenever she stopped to speak to my parents Stan and Mary Marcinek. It’s hard to lose a parent no matter what age.
