Hill, Randy

It’s with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Randy Hill at his home in Rocky Mountain House, AB at the age of 71.

Randy will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ciatres Hill, his daughters: Candy Patterson, Danielle (Mark) Marley; 6 grandchildren Zachary (Holly) Marley, Noah, Paige, Hannah, Beau and Luke; great grandson William, cousins who were like his siblings, extended family, and many friends. Randy was pre-deceased by his parents Gene and Vi Hill of Rocky Mountain House, AB.

Randolph Allan Hill was born in Medicine Hat in 1950. He spent most of his childhood in Rocky Mountain House and some later years on Vancouver Island, BC. He returned to his roots in Rocky Mountain House where he settled permanently in 1987. He worked for various trucking and construction companies over the years; Hill Trucking, Pidherney’s, and Doran Stewart to name a few that had a massive impact on his life.

It can’t go without mentioning the love for his dogs over the years. His most recent love Sofie will miss him spoiling her like crazy. He was an adventurous soul who was always aware of the newest, latest greatest activity or technology. He raised bees, canoed, kayaked, flew model airplanes, sailed, waterskied, painted, and loved to fish. His love for the water stemmed from his Sea Cadet days. He was a dreamer and an eternal optimist who loved to share all his big ideas with his friends over coffee.

He was passionate about politics and fighting for what is right and fair for Albertans. In recent years with the amputation of his leg, his deep-rooted beliefs especially gave him focus and purpose. Regardless of his struggles, he had the ability to keep focusing on life’s next moment or opportunity.

His family takes comfort knowing he is at peace and surrounded by his family who was there to meet him.

At Randy’s request, there will be no service held.

Cremation entrusted to the Rocky Mountain Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.

We have known Randy since he was a young lad. He always seemed to enjoy whatever life had in store for him. The Hill’s were part of the Finnish family in Rocky and he will be missed. Our sympathy to all the family
