Dwyer, Edward “Ed”
June 27, 1944 – July 16, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the sudden passing of Edward Michael Dwyer on Tuesday, July 16, 2019.
Ed was born on June 27, 1944, in Vermilion, Alberta to Aileen and William Dwyer. By age 13, he had lost both parents which necessitated a move to Vegreville, to live with his half sister and her family to finish his education. While in high school, Ed met the love of his life, Lynne Eickmeyer. He continued on putting himself through the U of A attaining his degree in education, graduating with distinction in 1970, while working as a movie theatre usher as well as a skyscraper window washer and various other jobs. January 22, 1966, Ed married Lynne. A move to Rocky Mountain House brought him his beloved teaching position at Will Sinclair High School. He taught physical education the first few years, then general sciences and finally physics, which he excelled at. Ed’s passion and dedication for sports allowed him to coach various teams and was the statistician for many years. Entering early retirement in the year 2000 due to health reasons, a new chapter in his life began. He developed a green thumb and was meticulous in gardening and growing his tomatoes which was his pride and joy. If he wasn’t helping others, Ed could be found in his garage tinkering on many projects.
The family foundation he formed was built with love and will remain forever in our hearts and grow in his honour.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Lynne; son Dean (Colleen); daughters Denienne (Jason), and Dori (Joe); nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, in-laws Norma and Ben Ralph and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held at the Chapel of The Rocky Funeral Home on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 2:00 PM. Inurnment to follow later, from the Pine Grove Cemetery. Cremation entrusted to the Rocky Mountain Crematorium.
Memorial donations in Ed’s name may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Condolences to the family. Mr. Dwyer taught me physics throughout high school in the late 1980's. He was a no-nonsense teacher who demanded the most out of his students. I've been a teacher for 20 years myself and it's teachers like Mr. Dwyer that shaped how I approach my profession. Thank you for that, sir.
Jayne Bawden( Dwyer):
I am very saddened to hear of Uncle Eddies passing. My thoughts and prayers go to Lynne and the family! I have some very fond memories of my Uncle! I didn't get to see very often, but I always knew what a wonderful man he truly was. Sending my best to all my cousins and you Aunt Lynn! XO
