Gladys Yvonne Martinson

Our family is saddened of the death of Yvonne (Gladys) Martinson on Sunday September 19,2021 at the Rimbey Long Term Care at the age of 89 years.

Yvonne was born at Landis Saskatchewan on April 9, 1932. Yvonne finished grade 10 in Saskatchewan and then her family moved to Evergreen Alberta. She worked as a nanny and housekeeper in the community. She met the love of her life, Floyd Martinson when she was 16 and because of her age they had a lot of chaperones. But they did get married in November of 1950 and started their farm life south of Hespero Cemetery. They worked in the bush during the winter months to add to their savings to buy livestock. They finished in 1953 when their first son Brian was born and learned to walk on the dirt floors. Number 2 son Dale came along in 1954. Daughter Eleanor in 1957 and daughter Laureen in 1959.

Yvonne is survived by her children, Brian &Cindy Martinson, Dale & Joan Martinson, Eleanor (Jim) Roberts, Laureen (Doug) Bolin. Eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Floyd in 2016, sister Grace and parents Gladys & Ted Greenwood.

A Graveside interment will be held for family only due to Covid.

Memorial donations in Yvonne’s name may be made to the Eckville Manor, Eckville, Alberta.
