Sheasby: William “Frank”

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William “Frank” Sheasby at the Good Samaritan Clearwater Centre in Rocky Mountain House. He was born in Eston, Saskatchewan in 1929.

Frank worked in both the Co – op and Credit Union systems in Saskatchewan and Calgary. His last management position was with Tuxedo Credit Union. After retirement, we moved to Rocky Mountain House to get out of the city and be close to family. He dabbled in small businesses, camping, and travelling and daily stops at the donut shop. He often could be found working in his shop fixing or inventing things. For many years Frank could be seen driving around town on his bright red scooter, big smile, and a cheery word for all, on his way to coffee with the guys. The museum folks made him so welcome. His helping at “Next to New” fulfilled his volunteering bent. He was so proud to have been part of harvest in Saskatchewan for many years. A beloved cat and dog made his life complete. Then his life changed with Dementia sidelined him.

Frank will be remembered and missed for his gentle, smiling way by his beloved wife, Grace of 34 years. He will be remembered for his love of family and zest for life by his daughter; Sandra (Keith) Bell and Linda McMillan; Grace’s children; Sid (Kelly) Robinson, Sheryl (Duane) Iceton; grandchildren Nancy (Duane) Johnson, Kim (Bryan) Cottini, Carmen Bell; Anita, Corrina, Kristina, and Tyrell Robinson, Dylan & Desirea Iceton; great grandchildren; Brandon & Madison Johnson, Mia & Anika Cottini , London & Cheyanne Spackman; special nieces and nephews from BC; extended family from England, sister in law Clara Berger and her family, special niece Denise.

He was predeceased by his parents Dollie & Hawtin Sheasby, brother in law Vernon Kersey, sister Mary Kersey, brother Sid and son in law Bob McMillan.

A private family celebration of Frank’s life will happen in the summertime.

Anyone wishing to make memorial donations in Frank’s name may do so to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Jane Tookey.:

After hearing of you as a cousin in Canada from an early age via family correspondence (especially at Christmas!) I eventually met Frank around 20yrs ago. We ‘clicked’ immediately & from that time I had a cousin who wasn’t just someone I wrote to/heard from at Christmas. Frank was like a ‘sponge’ for information regarding his British relatives & their family background & we spent many a letter, and later emails, sending each other family information. My visits to Canada brought a new dimension to ‘family’ to myself & two grown up children & we all had great conversations with each other across the miles.
I may not live close but I will miss my ‘long distance’ letters, emails & occasional telephone calls. God bless you Frank, enjoy your ‘reunion’ with past family members & thank you for arranging the ‘Sheasby reunions’ because without you they probably would never have happened, and, I wouldn’t have ‘met’ you or my Canadian family.

So sad to hear of Frank’s passing. Always was so happy to see his scooter parked at the church on Sunday, knowing that you would be greeted by a warm smile and a friendly greeting..
