Obituary

Delorme, Noel Andrew
1943-2023
Noel Andrew Delorme, passed away on October 11, 2023 at the Sundre Hospital. Noel was born December 25th, 1943, was the sixth child of ten born to Victoria and Ely Delorme. He was born in Midnight Lake Saskatchewan. Ely and Victoria moved their family to Fairholm, SK where Noel spent most of his Childhood.
Noel moved to Alberta in 1962 when he was 19. He worked mainly for the Pipelines. He met his wife Sharon Fredine in 1965 and they had one Daughter Lisa Marie in 1967. They were married in 1972.
Noel was still working for the Pipeline and bought a holiday trailer and followed Banister Pipeline to many provinces including Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta.
In 1973 they settled on the Fredine family farm in the Butte area. While Noel still worked Pipeline and was gone a lot for work Sharon stayed home to raise the family which included many foster children over the years. They resided there until they sold the acreage in 2017.
Noel then stopped working for Banister and went to work for Silver Oilfield Construction which he basically ran for the owner for about 15 years. Later on, he started his own companies. He had a crude oil hauling company, Road Boreing company and a manure hauling company.
Noel had many hobbies. Playing the guitar and singing, hunting, fishing, wood carving, leather work and working with his dogs.
He loved spending time with Family and Friends, and we took several trips to Vancouver Island for fishing. Many times, with Friends or Family coming with us for the adventure.
Noel was predeceased by his wife Sharon Delorme (Fredine), Son Robbie, his parents Ely & Victoria Delorme. Six sisters: Lorianne Lacey, Joan Dutnall, Bernice Wing, Theresa England, Elaine Sloan and Anne Flenniken. He was also predeceased by one Brother, Jules Delorme.
Left to mourn his passing are his Daughter Lisa Braun and two Brothers, Elie Delorme and Victor (Colleen) Delorme. Many many Nieces, Nephews and Friends. One Brother-in-law Carl Flenniken and two Sister-in-laws, June Sawyer and Linda Fredine.
He was a great man who was very kind and always willing to help out Family or Neighbors if they needed something.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
A Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Matthews Roman Catholic Church, Rocky Mountain House, AB., on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 1:00 PM. Inurnment will follow at the Horseguard Cemetery after the luncheon.

Patsy Petropoulos / Beverley Gallant ( Shantz ):

We both were very sad to hear of Noel's passing. He was a cherished family friend and my sons Godfather. Unfortunately we did not hear of his passing until the 21st and so did not make it to the funeral. He will be missed by all of us.
Sorry for your loss Lisa and family

Zane Sloan:

I have such good memories of Uncle Noel from my childhood. He came home to Fairholme often in those years, to visit Grandma and Grandpa Delorme, my mom and dad, family, and friends. And I know my mom loved her brother dearly through all her years, speaking of her big brother as her protector when they were growing up. My Mom’s many stories about Uncle Noel were always told with love and great humor for the big brother she loved so much.

He seemed always upbeat and a genuinely happy person, with a great laugh, and great stories. I especially loved his stories of the days growing up in his own childhood.

Looking back now, I can see it was through storytelling that we bonded as only an uncle and nephew can. I was a kid, and he told me about what life was like when he was a kid. And these talks would unravel over the many hours we spent fishing and hunting or visiting at our farm. It’s said it takes a village to raise a child. Uncle Noel did his part, and he did it well. Thanks for the memories Uncle Noel.

After I moved away from home the occasions of seeing Uncle Noel were few and far between. But I was fortunate to spend some quality time with him last fall. We played some music together, talked about music, and caught up with old stories and new. No doubt I’ll carry some of those stories to my family and friends. I’m so grateful Uncle Noel was part of my life.

George & Heather Loomer:

Deepest sympathy in your loss, Lisa.

Annabelle DeLorme:
