Wilfred Curtis Jackson

(March 28, 1934-March 12, 2021)

Oh, what a boring bunch we must have been, for on March 12, 2021 Wilfred (Wilf) Curtis Jackson left us to search for a different crowd to have a good BS session with.

In 1934 Wilf was eager to start his life as he was born at a neighbor’s house while enroute to the Unity Hospital in Saskatchewan. After growing up on the family farm, some of his travels included adventures in San Francisco and Cochrane. When he returned home, he was torn between his love of flying and farming. His choice was clear after his mother made the comment “you will look funny hauling grain to the elevator in a plane!” In 1966, Wilf married Peggy Brown and the 2 became inseparable. Ken and Sandra soon followed to complete the family. Eventually they moved to Alberta and farmed in Valleyview, and Peers before settling in Rocky Mountain House.

Since 1999 Wilf and Peg made many friends during the annual bus tours sponsored by the agricultural society. They even travelled to warmer climates…..envision swimming trunks, cowboy boots and a cowboy hat on the beaches of Hawaii! Wilf hated the heat but loved the chance to talk to new people.

Wilf was the McGyver of farming. He could work with all animals and enjoyed his cattle, horses, and dogs. He took pride in skills as a welder, carpenter, and electrician. Some winter projects included rebuilding a horse drawn sleigh and fabricating a goose neck trailer.

Wilf is survived by his wife Peggy, daughter Sandra (Alan) and grandsons Justin and Nathan; his sisters Laura and Grace; his brother Harold; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son Ken and siblings John and Mary.

No service will be held at this time due to COVID19 restrictions.

Memorial donations in Wilf’s name may be made to West Country Family Services Association in Rocky Mountain House or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Cremation entrusted to the Rocky Mountain Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.
