Knopp, Lonny

With broken hearts, we announce the sudden passing of our dear brother, son, nephew, uncle, and friend, Lonny.

Lonny Neal Knopp was born on September 29, 1978 to Neal and JoAnne Knopp. He and his sister Lynn were raised in the Leslieville and Eckville area, where he spent the entirety of his short life surrounded by family and friends.

Lonny entered into rest on September 1, 2020 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital.

Lonny was well known in the community, as he was a fun loving, kindhearted friend to many. He was intelligent and witty, a great conversationalist, and his door was always open to a friend in need. He lived a modest life and never asked anybody for anything. Aside from the people in his life that he loved dearly, he also loved his cats, music, his truck, hockey (Go Canucks!), the Big Lebowski, his collections, and golf.

He worked for a few local companies over the years operating equipment and driving truck, including Mike Shippelt Trucking, Eagle Light Transport, and most recently Smith Farms. He made many great connections and lasting friendships.

Lonny is survived but his father Neal Knopp, his sister Lynn (Rob) Hart, his nephew Liam, his nieces Millie and Abby, special aunt Colleen, as well as numerous other uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who were like family to him.

He was predeceased by his loving mother JoAnne Knopp, and both his grandparents Marvin and Tootsie Knopp and Glen and Myrtle Engen.

A memorial service for Lonny will be held at a later date.

Those wishing to make a memorial donation in Lonny’s name may do so to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Dear Lynn, Rob, Neal & Family:
I’m so, so sorry and sad to hear of Lonny’s passing. He was one of my favourite people/cousins and I was so lucky to be around him as he grew up. He always had a smile and warm hug whenever our paths crossed. He will be terribly missed and I know he’s now with Jo and safe in her loving embrace. I hope you find solace and peace in your many memories of Lon in the tough days ahead. Much love to all of you.
The Savill Family.

Karen and Gordon Mohn:
